Destruction of Tigray Region Institutions by the Rump TPLF Exposes the True Nature of the Banned Group

Addis Ababa, October 24, 2026 (FMC) — The destruction inflicted on public institutions across the Tigray Region, particularly the regional administration’s headquarters, has exposed the true nature and actions of the rump TPLF, Asefa Abraha, Chief Executive for Administration and Public Services of the region’s caretaker administration, said.

The caretaker administration held discussions with directors of regional government offices to clarify its mandate, responsibilities and working arrangements as efforts intensify to restore public services and reactivate government institutions across the region.

Addressing the meeting, Asefa said the extensive destruction of regional institutions, especially the regional administration’s headquarters, had exposed the actions and true nature of the banned TPLF group. The damage has left public offices facing the urgent task of restoring their capacity and resuming services for the people.

Asefa called on government employees to return to their duties, disclosing that urgent work was underway to pay their salaries. The return of staff is a critical step in reactivating public institutions and restoring services on which residents depend.

Directors representing 25 different government offices expressed their readiness to resume work. They called for the rapid provision of the equipment and other essential resources required to restore their offices fully and enable employees to discharge their responsibilities.

Government employees are expected to return to their regular duties beginning Monday, October 26, as the caretaker administration moves to reactivate public institutions and restore administrative capacity across the Tigray Region.
