Addis Ababa, January 12, 2026 (FMC) — Members of the Ethiopian-American Chamber of Commerce have expressed commitment to widely promote Ethiopia’s tourism potential and engage in investment following discussions with Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa.
Minister Selamawit stated that members of the Chamber have an important responsibility to contribute to the development of Ethiopia’s tourism and hospitality sectors, particularly by engaging Ethiopians living in the United States. She made the remarks after receiving and holding discussions with Chamber representatives from Washington, D.C. and various U.S. states.
She emphasized that Ethiopia’s current situation creates a favorable and attractive environment for investment across multiple sectors. The Minister highlighted that the government’s increased focus on tourism in recent years has helped project the true image of Ethiopia to the world.
Minister Selamawit urged the Chamber members to properly promote their home country, gather accurate information, and actively contribute to efforts to strengthen Ethiopia’s national tourism brand globally. She also briefed them on major infrastructure developments, new tourism projects, and broad investment opportunities being prioritized by the government.
The Minister assured that the government is committed to providing the necessary support for the diaspora to participate meaningfully in modernizing the tourism and hospitality industry by contributing their knowledge, technology, and capital.
Leaders and members of the Ethiopian-American Chamber of Commerce, for their part, said that the progress seen in Ethiopia’s tourism sector and the emergence of new destinations have greatly inspired them. They pledged to participate in investment activities, promote Ethiopia’s tourism resources internationally, and cooperate closely with the Ministry.
