Addis Ababa, May 29, 2025 (FMC) — The Ethiopian National ID Program Office has announced that the integration of the national digital identification system, known as Fayda, has been successfully completed across 55 institutions.
According to Mr. Abenezer Feleke, Head of Strategic Relations at the Program Office, the ongoing effort aims to expand the use of the digital ID system across service providers nationwide.
He stated that the government is working to ensure that Fayda is accessible in all regional states.
The official noted that over 1,000 registration points have been established throughout the country, with Ethio Telecom and regional revenue offices facilitating service delivery.
He also indicated that preparations are underway to install registration machines at banks to further extend access to digital ID services.
Abenezer added that while integration with 55 institutions has been finalized, work is continuing to link the system with additional government and private sector service providers.
He further reported that more than 15.99 million citizens have so far registered for Fayda, and that awareness-raising campaigns are being conducted to encourage broader public participation.
The Fayda digital ID is considered to play a vital role in ensuring inclusive service delivery and supporting the realization of the national Digital Ethiopia strategy, the Program Office indicated.
