Ethiopia Advances Infrastructure Financing Dialogue with Saudi Fund for Development

Addis Ababa, April 16, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia has held discussions aimed at strengthening financing cooperation for key infrastructure projects with the Saudi Fund for Development, as part of efforts to support ongoing macroeconomic and development priorities.

A delegation led by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide held a bilateral meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development, Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.

The discussions focused on potential financing support for strategic infrastructure projects, including the Bishoftu International Airport project, as well as the expansion of road connectivity to enhance economic growth and regional integration.

The Ethiopian delegation outlined the country’s ongoing macroeconomic reform agenda and priority investment areas requiring continued financial support, while also acknowledging the importance of sustained development cooperation with the Saudi Fund for Development.

The Saudi Fund for Development reaffirmed its commitment to its partnership with Ethiopia and expressed readiness to further strengthen cooperation in support of key development initiatives.
