Ethiopia and India Seek to Expand Cooperation in Education, Trade, Investment and Digitalization

Addis Ababa, October 9, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos held talks with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, in Addis Ababa today on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors.

The discussions focused on advancing Ethiopia–India cooperation in education and culture, trade and investment, and digitalization.

During the meeting, Jaishankar expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s active participation in the recent BRICS Summit hosted by India, underscoring the significance of the two countries’ engagement within the multilateral grouping.

The meeting forms part of Jaishankar’s working visit to Ethiopia, aimed at further deepening the longstanding partnership between Addis Ababa and New Delhi.
