Ethiopia and Norway Eye Stronger Cooperation on Climate Action and Sustainable Growth

Addis Ababa, November 22, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held a constructive meeting with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders’ Summit 2025 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In a social media post, thePrime Minister disclosed that the discussions focused on climate action cooperation, multilateral issues of shared concern, and exploring investment opportunities aimed at strengthening bilateral partnership and promoting sustainable growth.

Prime Minister Abiy noted that the meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to deepen collaboration on areas of mutual interest and to advance initiatives that support long-term development.

The Ethiopian Prime Minister is participating in the G20 Summit to engage with global leaders on pressing economic, environmental, and developmental challenges, and to position Ethiopia as a key partner in regional and international initiatives.

At the Summit, he highlighted the importance of coordinated global action on climate resilience, sustainable investment, and equitable economic growth, while discussing ways to leverage international partnerships to support Ethiopia’s reform and economic opening.
