Addis Ababa, January 5, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and the Sultanate of Oman have emphasized expanding trade, investment, and collaboration on regional security.
The two nations’ pursuit of deeper cooperation on various areas was disclosed following a high-level meeting between Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos and Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, here in Addis Ababa today.
During the meeting, FM Gedion highlighted the longstanding diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and Oman and reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to advancing shared interests and further strengthening bilateral relations.
He encouraged Omani businesses to take advantage of opportunities arising from Ethiopia’s ongoing economic liberalization.
The Minister also underscored the importance of deepening cooperation in key sectors, including agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, and fostering people-to-people connections between the two countries.
Sheikh Khalifa, for his part, expressed Oman’s strong interest in expanding trade and investment relations with Ethiopia.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional peace and security issues of mutual concern, underscoring their shared commitment to collaboration and stability in the region.
