Addis Ababa, July 23, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia and the Netherlands have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in immigration and citizenship services.
A high-level Ethiopian delegation led by Ms. Selamawit Dawit, Director General of Ethiopia’s Immigration and Citizenship Service (ICS), recently concluded a working visit to the Netherlands. The delegation included officials from various national institutions engaged in migration, border management, and refugee affairs.
The visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding diplomatic partnership between the two countries and to exchange best practices in immigration and citizenship service delivery, the management of border and temporary shelter facilities, and support mechanisms for refugees and returnees.
During the visit, the Ethiopian delegation toured key Dutch institutions involved in these areas and held extensive discussions with their counterparts to identify new avenues for technical collaboration and institutional capacity building.
The visit builds on growing bilateral engagement, following a working visit to Ethiopia by senior officials from the Netherlands Immigration Service in February 2025.
According to information provided to Fana Digital by the ICS, both sides emphasized the importance of continued dialogue and joint initiatives to improve migration governance and public service efficiency.
