Ethiopia and Türkiye Sign Agreements to Boost Economic and Energy Cooperation

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan today signed two key agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Türkiye.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Agreed Minutes of the 9th Türkiye–Ethiopia Joint Economic Commission and a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy.

The Office noted that the agreements consolidate the growing partnership between the two nations and underscore their shared commitment to advancing collaborative efforts in areas of mutual interest.
