Addis Ababa, February 10, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held talks with his Zambian counterpart, Mulambo Haimbe, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Mulambo Haimbe is in Addis Ababa to attend the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union and the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
During the meeting, Minister Gedion described relations between Ethiopia and Zambia as historic and strong, underscoring the need to translate the solid political ties into deeper economic engagement.
He highlighted the potential for Ethiopian businesses to supply textile and apparel products to the Zambian market.
For his part, Zambian Foreign Minister Mulambo Haimbe stressed the importance of further strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
The two ministers agreed to convene a joint political consultation aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. They also exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
