Addis Ababa, May 20, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Belgium have strengthened their economic cooperation with the signing of a new memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding trade, boosting investment promotion, and deepening broader economic collaboration between the two countries.
The agreement was signed between the South Ethiopia Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and Belgium’s CBL-ACP, reflecting a shared commitment to developing a coordinated framework that enhances bilateral business relations and creates expanded opportunities for investors, enterprises and entrepreneurs from both sides.
The signing took place on the second day of the Ethiopia–Benelux Business Forum, where the focus shifted toward intensive business-to-business (B2B) engagements between Ethiopian and Belgian companies. The meetings centered on exploring new partnerships, identifying investment opportunities, and discussing avenues for market expansion.
Alongside the B2B sessions, the forum featured panel discussions addressing key themes including investment facilitation, trade cooperation, industrial development, innovation, and the role of private sector partnerships in strengthening economic ties between Ethiopia and Europe.
Participants underscored that the forum is serving as a practical platform for advancing business diplomacy and translating bilateral relations into tangible economic cooperation and long-term partnerships between Ethiopian and Benelux business communities.
The Ethiopia–Benelux Business Forum continues in Brussels, Belgium, with further investment discussions and business engagements scheduled in the coming days.
