Addis Ababa, September 27, 2026 (FMC) — An Ethiopia-China Cultural and Tourism Gala has been held in Beijing under the theme “From the Highlands to the Silk Road,” bringing together representatives from the cultural, tourism, media, and business sectors.
Hosted by the Embassy of Ethiopia in Beijing, the gala showcased Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage, diverse tourism destinations, and distinctive coffee tradition while highlighting opportunities for stronger exchanges between the two countries.
In her remarks, Deputy Head of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Ethiopia in China, Dr. Aziza Geleta, highlighted Ethiopia’s wide range of tourism attractions, from the historic sites of Lalibela and Aksum to the spectacular landscapes of the Simien Mountains and the country’s renowned coffee culture.
Dr. Aziza encouraged Chinese visitors, businesses, and investors to explore Ethiopia’s tourism and investment opportunities, underscoring the potential of cultural exchange, tourism, and media cooperation to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen people-to-people ties between Ethiopia and China.
Participants were introduced to Ethiopia’s cultural traditions through a multimedia presentation, music and dance performances, as well as Ethiopian cuisine and coffee, offering guests an immersive glimpse into the country’s cultural heritage.
Dr. Aziza also invited Chinese audiences to discover Ethiopia’s ancient history, diverse cultures, dramatic landscapes, and heritage linked to human origins and the birthplace of coffee culture.
The gala served as a platform for advancing people-to-people connections and expanding cultural, tourism, and media exchanges between Ethiopia and China.
