Addis Ababa, November 24, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia-China vocational education and training (TVET) ties further deepened as Shangqiu Polytechnic launched a specialized new energy vehicle (NEV) training program for Ethiopian teachers from Ethio-Italy Polytechnic College (EIPC) in China.
The three-week program, inaugurated on November 21, aims to strengthen technical teaching skills in Ethiopia and support the country’s emerging NEV industry.
Xue Mingzhi, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shangqiu Polytechnic, welcomed the visiting teachers and highlighted the college’s expertise in NEV technology education.
He said the curriculum is tailored to Ethiopia’s industrial needs, offering a systematic and customized learning experience designed to equip teachers with advanced skills and share Chinese teaching practices.
A representative of the Ethiopian trainees expressed gratitude to Shangqiu Polytechnic, noting the program’s significance for Ethiopia’s economic growth, environmental protection, and technological sovereignty.
He urged colleagues to fully utilize the training, bring back knowledge, and contribute to developing Ethiopia’s NEV industry while cultivating a new generation of technical talent.
The launch included a flag-handover ceremony marking the start of the program. Following the ceremony, the Ethiopian team toured the campus and visited NEV experimental laboratories, experiencing the college’s advanced teaching facilities firsthand, it was mentioned.
The initiative strengthens Ethiopia-China cooperation in vocational education and NEV technology, building a bridge for talent development and industrial collaboration while consolidating the partnership between the two countries in technical innovation, it has been learned.
