Addis Ababa, October 1, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Djibouti have agreed to establish a joint technical committee aimed at enhancing cooperation in the logistics sector, tackling existing challenges, and opening new avenues for growth.
The decision was announced at the conclusion of the Second Ethiopia–Djibouti Business Boosting Conference, which convened in Djibouti over the past two days under the theme “Logistics Facilitation for Regional Business Integration.”
The first round of the conference, held earlier in Addis Ababa, identified key gaps in logistics services and explored possible solutions. Building on those discussions, the newly formed committee will review sectoral shortcomings, set policy directions, and coordinate joint measures for greater efficiency along the Ethiopia–Djibouti Corridor, a lifeline for regional trade.
Composed of institutions and stakeholders directly engaged in logistics from both countries, the committee will also focus on technology adoption, training, and capacity building to ensure the sector delivers qualified professionals and modern services that can support broader economic development.
Conference participants emphasized that a healthy, modern, and well-equipped logistics system is critical not only for bilateral trade but also for advancing regional integration.
