Addis Ababa, August 21, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia is preparing to host the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) in collaboration with the African Union from September 8–10, 2025, a landmark gathering that will bring together leaders and stakeholders from across the continent and beyond.
The Summit, to be held under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development,” will convene Heads of State and Government, development partners, intergovernmental organizations, academia, civil society, and representatives of women and youth groups.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the conference will be anchored on two strategic pillars: showcasing African solutions for climate action and unlocking scalable climate finance to accelerate green development.
The ACS2 aims to strengthen Africa’s unified voice in influencing key global platforms such as COP30, the G20, and the UN General Assembly. It will push for reforms to expand grant-based climate finance and investment mechanisms, highlight African-led innovations with global potential, and forge strategic partnerships to support resilient and sustainable growth across the continent.
The high-level gathering is also expected to adopt the African Leaders’ Addis Ababa Declaration and launch a flagship report outlining initiatives and strategic partnerships at national, regional, continental, and global levels.
Officials said the Summit reflects Ethiopia’s proven commitment to African-led climate action and its readiness to provide leadership in advancing bold, continent-wide solutions.
This September, Addis Ababa will welcome leaders, innovators, and change-makers determined to shape Africa’s climate future.
