Ethiopia Joins Senior Officials Meeting as AU–EU Partners Set Agenda for 7th Summit in Luanda

Addis Ababa, November 24, 2025 (FMC) — Senior officials of the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) convened today in Luanda, Angola, to review progress in their 25-year strategic partnership and finalize the agenda for the 7th AU–EU Summit set for 24–25 November 2025.

The Senior Officials Meeting brought together representatives from both sides to take stock of joint priorities and prepare key outcomes for endorsement by leaders at the Summit. Officials from the AU and EU delivered statements highlighting the enduring relevance of their partnership and reaffirmed commitments to cooperation across four core pillars: peace and security, prosperity and investment, multilateralism, and migration and mobility.

During the session, delegates examined the Joint Monitoring Report of the 6th AU–EU Summit and reviewed the draft Declaration to be presented to Heads of State and Government. Senior officials also adopted the Agenda and Programme of Work for the upcoming Summit.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia participated in the meeting as part of its engagement in AU–EU partnership processes.
