Addis Ababa, July 2, 2026 (FMC) — The Commander of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces’ (ENDF) Special Operations Command, Lieutenant General Shuma Abdetta, said #Ethiopia is nurturing a new generation of heroes equipped with the resilience and determination to overcome the country’s challenges.
The commander made the remarks during a visit to the Blate Special Operations Command Training Center, where he inspected the training of the 45th Resilience Course and reviewed ongoing infrastructure development at the facility.
During the visit, Lieutenant General Shuma held discussions with command leaders, instructors, and trainees on a range of operational and training-related matters.
He said the Special Operations Command has been delivering encouraging results by contributing to the maintenance of public peace in its areas of deployment, safeguarding major national development projects across the country, and carrying out operations against the terrorist group Shene and other extremist groups.
According to the commander, the force continues to play a significant role in strengthening national peace and security through its operational effectiveness, public service, and continued modernization in line with evolving technological advancements.
Addressing the trainees, Lieutenant General Shuma said participants in the Resilience Course should recognize the responsibility entrusted to them as future guardians of the nation and continue their training with dedication, discipline, courage, and perseverance, Defense online communications team told Fana Digital.
Deputy Commander of the Special Operations Command, Major General Abebaw Sayed, on his part, said the Command has continued to discharge its responsibilities with determination despite various challenges. He urged the trainees to prepare themselves to uphold the values, responsibilities, and legacy entrusted to the force.
