Addis Ababa, November 13, 2025 (FMC) – Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh today inaugurated the 4th Annual Mining and Technology Expo (MINTEX 2025) at the Addis International Convention Center, marking another milestone in Ethiopia’s drive to unlock the full potential of its mining sector.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the expo serves as a vital platform for government officials, investors, researchers, and industry players to exchange ideas, explore partnerships, and promote innovation in the sector.
He noted that despite Ethiopia’s vast reserves of mineral resources both on and beneath the surface, the country has yet to fully harness this wealth. Ongoing reforms and development initiatives, he added, are now geared toward rectifying past shortcomings and ensuring the sector contributes meaningfully to national growth.
Mr. Temesgen underscored the government’s strong commitment to transforming mining into one of the five key pillars of the national economy. He cited major ongoing projects—including the construction of a multibillion-dollar natural gas processing plant, an oil refinery, and a fertilizer production facility—as evidence of the sector’s growing strategic significance.
Running from November 13 to 16, MINTEX 2025 brings together manufacturers, technology providers, and service suppliers from across the globe to showcase their latest products, innovations, and solutions in mining and related technologies.
