Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia Commit to Deepened Regional, Political and Economic Cooperation

Addis Ababa, February 2, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia have pledged to strengthen their collaboration across regional, political, and economic spheres, reaffirming their commitment to peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

The pledge was made during the meeting between Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in Riyadh, where the two Ministers exchanged views on enhancing the longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries.

The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest within the framework of multilateral diplomatic engagement, with both sides underscoring the importance of elevating the Ethiopia–Saudi Arabia partnership to a higher strategic level.

The discussions also highlighted regional peace and security matters, as well as the need to further expand political and economic cooperation across various sectors to advance the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Both Ministers agreed to work closely together to promote peace and stability in the Horn of Africa, signaling a strengthened commitment to regional security and collaborative development.
