Ethiopia, World Bank Forge Path for Deeper Strategic Partnership

Addis Ababa, February 3, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, held a high-level discussion with Gallina Vincelette, Vice President for Operations Policy and Country Services at the World Bank, focusing on the development of a new Country Partnership Framework aimed at deepening the strategic collaboration between Ethiopia and the Bank.

The meeting centered on aligning future cooperation with Ethiopia’s national development and reform priorities under the newly evolved World Bank Country Engagement Framework. The framework emphasizes greater selectivity and outcome-oriented initiatives, a shift that Minister Shide described as an opportunity to enhance the impact of Ethiopia’s partnership with the World Bank.

Vincelette praised Ethiopia’s reform efforts and robust economic management, reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to a strong partnership geared toward delivering transformative results.

Both sides emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach in preparing the new Country Partnership Framework, underscoring their shared goal of driving sustainable development and meaningful progress across Ethiopia.
