Ethiopian Delegation Engages WEF on Investment and Development Partnerships

Addis Ababa, January 24, 2026 (FMC) — The Ethiopian delegation, led by Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, met with Borge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum (WEF), to discuss Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms and avenues for deepening strategic partnerships.

During the meeting, Minister Shide briefed Brende on Ethiopia’s sustained progress in economic reform and highlighted the country’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for investment and development.

Expressing gratitude to the WEF, Minister Shide noted that the forum provides a valuable platform for Ethiopia to engage with global partners on critical issues, including technology, financing, and sustainable development.

Both sides agreed to collaborate closely on investment dialogues and development partnerships, aiming to strengthen mutual cooperation and advance shared objectives.

Concluding its participation in the World Economic Forum 2026, the Ethiopian delegation reported a series of successful engagements focused on mobilizing investment, fostering strategic partnerships, and promoting Ethiopia’s economic interests on the international stage while reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development and global cooperation.
