Addis Ababa, December 3, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to work closely in combating terrorism and transnational crime, following discussions between Chief Commissioner of Ethiopian Federal Police General Demelash Gebre-Michael and U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia Ervin J. Massinga.
The meeting, held at the Ethiopian Federal Police Headquarters in Addis Ababa, focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in policing and security, Gen. Demelash told Fana Digital.
The two sides reviewed ongoing partnerships and explored avenues to expand collaboration in intelligence sharing, law enforcement capacity development, and exchange of expertise.
Commissioner General Demelash stated that the discussion covered practical areas of cooperation, including experience sharing, training, and institutional capacity building.
For his part, Ambassador Massinga underscored the United States’ commitment to support Ethiopia’s security sector and to work jointly in addressing terrorism and cross-border criminal networks.
He emphasized that Washington remains keen on scaling up cooperation with Ethiopian security institutions to enhance regional stability.
