Addis Ababa, September 10, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos has arrived in New Delhi at the head of a high-level Ethiopian delegation to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit.
According to Ethiopia’s Chargé d’Affaires to India, Ambassador Nebiyu Tedla, the delegation was welcomed upon arrival by Janesh Kain, Joint Secretary at India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The 18th BRICS Summit is being hosted by India in New Delhi, bringing together leaders and senior representatives of the expanded BRICS grouping.
The summit is scheduled for September 12–13, with discussions expected to address issues including global governance, trade, finance, technology, energy and cooperation among countries of the Global South.
Ethiopia’s participation places the country among the African voices engaging in the high-level BRICS deliberations as the grouping continues to expand its role in global economic and diplomatic affairs.
