Ethiopia’s Development Path is a Collective Journey, Not a Single-Generation Task — PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, June 23, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has emphasized that the country’s development trajectory is a collective and intergenerational effort, calling on citizens to sustain the momentum of national transformation beyond the current reform period.

The Prime Minister delivered opening remarks at the “ETHIOPIA DELIVERS” summit, held under the theme “From Reform to Lasting Change,” where the outcomes and impact of key reforms implemented over the past eight years were reviewed.

In his message, the Prime Minister reflected on Ethiopia’s reform journey, describing it as a period of continuous progress shaped by deliberate policy choices and collective national engagement.

He noted that the country’s recent achievements are the result of coordinated effort rather than isolated initiatives, highlighting flagship national projects, including the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, as an example of what sustained national mobilization can achieve.

Linking the reform process to the guiding philosophy of Medemer, the Prime Minister underscored unity, shared responsibility, and collaboration as central pillars of Ethiopia’s development approach.

He further stressed that ongoing reforms are not an end in themselves but a foundation for future generations, urging Ethiopians to continue building on the progress achieved and advance the nation’s long-term transformation.
