Addis Ababa, September 29, 2026 (FMC) — Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service Ambassador Redwan Hussein has called on Ethiopians to demonstrate the same wholehearted commitment to their country that he said is embodied by the Ethiopian Defense Forces.
The remarks came during Ambassador Redwan’s visit to the Ethiopian Defense Forces Arts and Sports Center Museum, where he highlighted the institution’s role in national life and the contribution of its arts and sports traditions to the country.
He described the Defense Forces as a pillar of the nation, a center of research and an institution with the capacity to make a transformative contribution to Ethiopia and the wider world.
Ambassador Redwan also emphasized the importance of the arts in national development, noting their role in shaping generations, nurturing talent and inspiring society. He said the Government is giving due attention to strengthening the arts sector.
He further said the Government would work with relevant stakeholders to support and strengthen the historically significant Defense Forces Arts and Sports Center.
Reiterating his message on patriotism, Ambassador Redwan said every Ethiopian should love the country wholeheartedly, drawing inspiration from the dedication demonstrated by the Defense Forces.
Government Communication Service Minister Etefa Meles said the Defense Forces is entrusted with protecting Ethiopia from threats and safeguarding the country for future generations.
He noted that the institution encompasses a broad range of professional fields and said the Government would provide the necessary support to strengthen these areas.
State Minister of Culture and Sports Nebiyu Baye said the Defense Forces has produced accomplished arts professionals who served the country during difficult periods while fulfilling their professional responsibilities.
He said their contributions have earned enduring recognition and respect from the country.
Meanwhile, Head of the Defense Forces Arts and Sports Center Brigadier General Getnet Adane said preparations are underway to mark the Center’s 85th anniversary.
The anniversary program will feature an armed forces arts competition, the 21st Armed Forces Sports Competition and a music concert.
