Addis Ababa, August 5, 2025 (FMC) – The Fourth National Peace Conference of Ethiopian Religious Institutions has entered its second day at Imam Ahmed Stadium in the historic city of Harar, continuing its mission to strengthen peace, unity, and national cohesion through interfaith collaboration.
Held under the theme “Religions for Peace, Unity, and Solidarity,” the conference brings together prominent faith leaders and representatives of the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia (IRCE), alongside senior government officials and local communities. Key participants include Deputy Chief Administrator of Harari Regional State Ms. Roza Oumer, State Minister of Peace Mr. Keiredin Tezera, and IRCE Secretary General Liqe Tiguhan Qesis Tagay Tadele.
Also in attendance are officials from regional and city peace and security bureaus, religious elders, and residents of Harar—underscoring broad-based engagement in Ethiopia’s efforts to safeguard social harmony.
Organized by the IRCE in collaboration with the Harari Regional State Inter-Religious Council, the two-day gathering underscores the central role of faith communities in peacebuilding and reconciliation. Religious leaders have emphasized the need for their institutions and followers to actively contribute to conflict resolution and to strengthen Ethiopia’s long tradition of religious tolerance and unity.
Throughout the conference, messages of peace, solidarity, and shared national responsibility are being delivered to inspire collective efforts toward a stable and inclusive future. The event also seeks to energize communities to stand united in the face of challenges, ensuring that peace remains the foundation of Ethiopia’s development journey.
