Addis Ababa, August 22, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Airlines and Boeing have completed the fourth edition of their STEM School Program, providing Grade 11 students with practical skills, industry exposure and early pathways toward careers in aviation, engineering and technology.
The six-week program, hosted at the Ethiopian Aviation University, brought together young Ethiopian students for intensive, hands-on training designed to connect classroom learning with the practical demands of the aviation and technology industries.
The latest edition covered coding and robotics, Arduino and artificial intelligence, mobile and web development, and autonomous systems. Participants also gained first-hand exposure to Ethiopian Airlines’ aviation operations, including its maintenance and information technology facilities.
The initiative reflects a broader effort by Ethiopian Airlines and Boeing to develop a pipeline of future STEM professionals capable of contributing to Ethiopia’s expanding aviation and technology sectors.
By combining Boeing’s global aerospace expertise with Ethiopian Airlines’ industry experience and the academic capacity of the Ethiopian Aviation University, the program is helping young Ethiopians translate their interest in science and technology into practical capabilities and future career aspirations.
The initiative also carries wider significance as Africa’s aviation sector expands and demand for specialized skills grows. Early investment in STEM education is increasingly important to developing a homegrown workforce capable of supporting the continent’s future advances in aviation, engineering and technology.
The completion of the fourth edition therefore marks more than another cycle of student training. It represents another step toward nurturing the innovators, engineers and aviation professionals who could help shape the future of Ethiopia’s and Africa’s aerospace and technology industries.
