Addis Ababa, November 24, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s President Taye Atske-Selassie has emphasized the importance of inclusive multilateralism and equitable global governance at the 7th African Union–European Union Summit in Luanda, Angola.
Addressing the summit, the Ethiopian leader highlighted that in today’s complex and interconnected world, it is essential for Africa and other developing countries to have a meaningful and permanent voice in global decision-making.
He called for reforms that ensure fair and representative international institutions, including a permanent African seat on the United Nations Security Council and multilateral financial systems that are more responsive to the needs of developing nations.
President Taye stressed that the global order must guarantee equal participation of all countries to promote shared prosperity, peace, and stability.
The 7th African Union–European Union Summit took place on November 24–25 in Luanda, Angola, bringing together leaders from AU and EU member states. The summit focused on peace, security, climate action, economic integration, and global governance.
African leaders called for fairer financial support, faster implementation of joint projects, and a stronger role in international institutions, including a permanent seat for Africa in the UN Security Council. They also urged increased investment in clean energy and sustainable development.
