Addis Ababa, October 9, 2025 (FMC) – The second edition of the European Union’s Global Gateway Forum opens today, 9 October 2025, in Brussels, amid growing geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges. Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie is participating in the high-level event, highlighting Ethiopia’s engagement in advancing global connectivity and investment partnerships.
Building on the success of the inaugural forum in 2023, this year’s gathering brings together representatives from governments, financial institutions, the private sector, and civil society to explore strategies for scaling up Global Gateway investments in partner countries.
A background paper, “Partnerships in a Geopolitical Era: Time for a New Strategic Conversation,” prepared by the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics, the Clingendael Institute, and the Egmont Institute, will guide the discussions.
Onsite attendance is by invitation only, but all plenary and thematic sessions will be streamed live, allowing global audiences to follow deliberations on sustainable and resilient international partnerships.
The forum underscores the EU’s commitment to fostering strategic investments worldwide while strengthening cooperation with partner nations like Ethiopia in a rapidly evolving global environment.
