Addis Ababa, June 22, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (EZEMA), one of the competing political parties in the country, has announced that it will work in partnership with all Ethiopian stakeholders on matters of national interest following the conclusion of the country’s 7th General Election and the announcement of final results.
In a statement issued after the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) declared the official outcome of the election, the party congratulated the successful completion of the electoral process, describing it as a significant national exercise.
EZEMA stated that it secured a total of 86 seats across the House of People’s Representatives and regional state, as well as Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa city councils. This includes 13 seats in the federal parliament and 73 seats at regional and city council levels, positioning it as the leading opposition political force in the country.
The party extended congratulations to its candidates, members, supporters, and all stakeholders who contributed to what it described as a meaningful electoral achievement.
It further indicated that it would continue to strengthen its organizational capacity by building on its existing strengths while addressing identified gaps through improved strategies, as it transitions into a more structured and competitive political role.
EZEMA also emphasized its commitment to working collaboratively with all Ethiopian stakeholders on national priorities, while promoting a modern political culture grounded in respectful engagement, constructive competition, and democratic consolidation.
The party concluded by congratulating the ruling Prosperity Party for securing a mandate to continue in government, as well as other competing parties that participated in the election and obtained public representation.
