Addis Ababa, February 12, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, met with Mrs. Eléonore Caroit, French Minister Delegate for Europe and Foreign Affairs, to discuss climate leadership, economic reform, and investment opportunities.
The meeting took place on the margins of the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.
During the discussions, Minister Gedion underscored France’s strong partnership and constructive support for the implementation of Ethiopia’s macroeconomic reform program.
He also highlighted Ethiopia’s intention to draw on France’s experience in hosting international climate conferences.
Mrs. Caroit reaffirmed France’s comprehensive support for Ethiopia’s economic reform efforts and confirmed her government’s commitment to encouraging greater participation of French companies in investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
Minister Gedion also briefed her on current regional issues and other matters of mutual interest, emphasizing the broader partnership between the two countries in advancing both climate and economic priorities.
