Addis Ababa, July 13, 2025 (FMC) — Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has passed away at the age of 82 while undergoing medical treatment at a clinic in London, where he had been receiving care since April.
Buhari, a former military ruler who later became a democratically elected president, made history in 2015 as the first opposition candidate to defeat a sitting Nigerian president at the ballot box.
His tenure was defined by a strong anti-corruption stance and efforts to combat insecurity, though his presidency was frequently marred by ongoing health issues.
