Addis Ababa, August 11, 2026 (FMC) — Addis Ababa’s Friendship Park, developed under the Medemer state, has generated nearly 1 billion Birr over the past four years, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said.
The Prime Minister highlighted the park as a vibrant public space where families, creators and visitors come together, noting that its significance extends beyond the economic value it has generated.
According to the Prime Minister, Friendship Park has become a space for health, recreation and community, offering residents and visitors a shared environment in the heart of Addis Ababa.
He further described the park as a blueprint for the future of the capital, emphasizing the importance of urban spaces that create opportunities, generate economic value and remain accessible to everyone.
