Addis Ababa, November 17, 2025 (FMC) — Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Ethiopia 2025 officially kicked off today, convening high-level government officials, ministers, business leaders, innovation hubs, and stakeholders from across the country and the region.
The week-long event, held under the theme “Let’s Build Together,” aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through training programs, conferences, experience-sharing forums, networking sessions, and policy dialogues. It is designed to foster innovation, expand market linkages, and promote collaboration across sectors.
This year’s GEW comes amid Ethiopia’s historic recognition as the world’s most active country in entrepreneurship events, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), which recorded 4,429 officially registered activities across the country. Ethiopia surpassed Brazil and Jordan, highlighting the country’s rapidly growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The launch ceremony brought together senior officials from key government ministries, private-sector leaders, and representatives of academic and innovation institutions. Organizers said GEW Ethiopia 2025 will also provide opportunities for knowledge exchange, investment promotion, and continental networking among entrepreneurs and ecosystem actors.
The event will continue throughout the week, culminating in awards for top initiatives, collaborative innovation sessions, and discussions on policies supporting entrepreneurship and job creation. Stakeholders have been encouraged to register ongoing and upcoming events to maintain Ethiopia’s leading global position in entrepreneurship engagement.
