Addis Ababa, October 16, 2025 (FMC) — The United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UNTCC) Chiefs Conclave 2025 began this week at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.
Hosted by the Indian Army, the three-day event brings together senior military leadership from 32 nations, senior United Nations officials, and representatives from troop-contributing countries, including an Ethiopian delegation, to discuss the future of global peace operations.
The inaugural session featured a keynote address by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who reaffirmed India’s long-standing commitment to peacekeeping.
Highlighting India’s contributions to over 50 UN missions, he emphasized that peacekeeping is both a professional duty and a moral responsibility. Minister Singh called for reforms in global institutions, greater involvement of troop-contributing countries in mandate formulation, and the adoption of technology-driven, people-centered operations.
He also proposed the “4Cs” — Consultation, Cooperation, Coordination, and Capacity Building — as guiding principles for future missions.
The conclave aims to enhance peacekeeping effectiveness, address operational challenges, and strengthen cooperation among troop-contributing countries.
Discussions will focus on evolving threats, technological innovation, and capacity building to support sustainable and inclusive global peace operations.
