Graduating ENDF Officers Pledge Readiness to Defend Ethiopia’s Sovereignty and National Security

Addis Ababa, June 7, 2026 (FMC) — Graduates of the Hurso Officer Cadet Training School have pledged readiness to make any sacrifice in defense of Ethiopia’s sovereignty and national security, emphasizing that their newly acquired military training and field experience will guide their future service within the Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF).

The statement was made following the graduation of the 27th round of the Endurance Course at the Hurso Officer Cadet Training School.

Chief of Staff of the ENDF, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, attended the graduation ceremony and conferred ranks and recognition on cadets who achieved outstanding performance during the training program.

Speaking after the ceremony, graduating officers said their training has equipped them with both theoretical knowledge and practical military skills required to effectively carry out national defense responsibilities.

Lieutenant Colonel Zekarias Abate said the graduates are prepared to undertake any national mission assigned to them, drawing on the modern military education and operational experience gained during their training.

Lieutenant Colonel Tadele Nanyo said deployment experience along Ethiopia’s borders had strengthened their discipline, operational readiness, and ability to perform effectively in demanding conditions.

He added that the combination of field exposure and structured military instruction has enhanced their capacity to execute future responsibilities with greater competence.

Vice Lieutenant Mastewal Belete highlighted the role of female officers in the ENDF, stating that women in the force are serving with dedication and professionalism in safeguarding Ethiopia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national dignity.

Vice Lieutenant Hewan Aman said taking up leadership roles in the military carries significant national responsibility, adding that the graduates are prepared to fulfill their duty in protecting the country against any threats while upholding national security and sovereignty.

The graduates collectively reaffirmed their commitment to serve under all conditions and to contribute to the protection of Ethiopia’s sovereignty, national interests, and the safety of its citizens.
