High-Level Delegations Continue to Arrive in Addis Ababa for 2nd UN Food Systems Summit

Addis Ababa, July 27, 2025 (FMC) — High-level delegations from around the world continue to arrive in Addis Ababa to participate in the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktaking Moment, which opens tomorrow.

Among the latest dignitaries to land at Bole International Airport are the Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba; Ministers of Agriculture from Nepal, Morocco, Jordan, Mali, Gambia, Kenya, and Zambia; Indonesia’s Minister for National Development Planning; and the Special Envoy of the President of France.

Mali’s Minister of Agriculture, Daniel Siméon Kelema, and Gambia’s Minister of Agriculture, Demba Sabally, were welcomed by State Minister of Justice Ermias Yemanebirhan, State Minister of Agriculture Professor Eyasu Elias, and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kenya’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Mutahi Kagwe, and Zambia’s Minister of Agriculture, Reuben Mtolo Phiri, were received by State Minister of Industry Tarekegn Bululta and State Minister of Health Saharla Abdulahi.

Other top officials were warmly welcomed by senior Ethiopian government representatives upon arrival, reflecting Ethiopia’s strong commitment to hosting the summit at the highest standard.

The 2nd UN Food Systems Summit +4 is expected to bring together heads of state, ministers, policy experts, civil society, and development partners to assess progress since the 2021 summit and accelerate national and global pathways toward equitable, resilient, and sustainable food systems.
