Addis Ababa, April 9, 2025 (FMC) — A High-Level Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) Forum held today in Addis Ababa brought together senior government officials and private sector leaders to tackle major tax and customs #challenges hindering investment in Ethiopia.
Organized by the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and development partners, the forum convened at Skylight Hotel and included participants from key institutions such as the Ministry of Revenues, Ethiopian Customs Commission, and the Ministry of Finance.
Discussions focused on seven long-standing business concerns, including regulatory transparency, Franco Valuta approvals, licensing for foreign freight forwarders, agency coordination, capital registration, tax dispute resolution, and enforcement of tax treaties.
EIC Chief Commissioner Zeleke Temesgen emphasized the government’s commitment to reform through dialogue, calling the forum “a significant step toward a more predictable and transparent business environment.”
The PPD Platform is part of a broader strategy to improve policy coordination and promote sustainable economic growth. Participants expressed optimism that the forum’s outcomes will translate into tangible reforms that enhance Ethiopia’s investment climate.
