Addis Ababa, August 31, 2026 (FMC) — A multinational delegation from India’s National Defence College is visiting Ethiopia as part of a study tour focused on gaining a broader understanding of the country’s political and economic landscape, regional engagement and role in international affairs.
Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dewano Kedir, received the delegation, led by Major General Pawanpal Singh, Senior Directing Staff, during its study visit to Ethiopia.
Ambassador Dewano highlighted the longstanding historical ties between Ethiopia and India and the steady expansion of bilateral relations, particularly the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.
He underscored expanding cooperation in trade and investment, as well as the significant contribution of Indian investors to Ethiopia’s economy. He also highlighted the longstanding cooperation between Ethiopia and India in the defence sector.
The delegation comprises participants from India, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Germany, Myanmar and Nepal, who are visiting various Ethiopian institutions as part of the study tour.
The visit is intended to provide the participants with broader perspectives on Ethiopia’s political and economic developments, its regional engagement and its wider role in international affairs.
