Addis Ababa, August 15, 2025 (FMC) – Iran has reported an 85 per cent increase in exports to African nations during the first quarter of the Iranian year, according to a senior official. The total value of exports to the continent reached US$260 million during this period, TV BRICS reported, citing Its Iranian partner Mehr News Agency.
Iran has witnessed substantial growth in trade, especially with Kenya. Exports to Kenya alone reached US$85 million. The official expressed optimism that trade volumes would continue to rise throughout the year, the source claims.
Officials also provided context for the current trade levels, noting that annual exports to Africa have typically hovered around the US$1 billion mark, with some fluctuations observed in recent years. Last year’s total exports to the continent amounted to US$850 million.
Experts believe that the reported increase in the first quarter, bringing total exports to US$260 million, underscores a notable acceleration in Iranian trade activity across the African continent. This development points to a strengthening of economic ties and increased engagement between Iran and African nations.
