JICA Reiterates Commitment to Advancing Partnership with Ethiopia Across Key Sectors of Mutual Interest

Addis Ababa, October 18, 2025 (FMC) – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has reiterated its strong commitment to advancing its partnership with Ethiopia across key sectors of mutual interest.

The commitment was reaffirmed during a meeting between Ethiopia’s Finance Minister Ahmed Shide and en JICA Senior Vice President Naoki Ando on the sidelines of the 2025 IMF–World Bank Annual Meetings in.Washington, D.C..

Ando reaffirmed JICA’s readiness to deepen cooperation in areas that underpin Ethiopia’s development priorities, including investment promotion, private sector development, and industrial transformation. He emphasized Japan’s continued support for Ethiopia’s efforts to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth.

Finance Minister Ahmed commended Japan’s longstanding partnership and critical support for Ethiopia’s development over the years.

He underlined the importance of scaling up development financing to meet the country’s growing needs in infrastructure, energy, and industrialization.

Both sides expressed a shared commitment to broaden collaboration through budget support, the financing of impactful projects, and the promotion of Japanese investment, further strengthening the development partnership between Ethiopia and Japan.
