Addis Ababa, September 2, 2026 (FMC) — Kenya will continue deepening cooperation with Ethiopia in trade and investment, border security and people-to-people relations, President William Ruto said as he bid farewell to outgoing Ethiopian Ambassador General Bacha Debele Buta at State House in Nairobi.
Ruto said the bonds between the two countries, their governments and leadership have grown stronger over the past four years, reaffirming Kenya’s commitment to consolidating bilateral ties.
The meeting marked the conclusion of Bacha’s diplomatic tour of duty in Kenya. Ruto wished the outgoing ambassador success in his future endeavors.
The Kenyan President highlighted trade and investment, security along the shared border and closer people-to-people ties as key areas for continued bilateral engagement.
The Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya said the farewell meeting marked the conclusion of a successful diplomatic tenure for Bacha.
