Addis Ababa, January 31, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today joined President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and President of Djibouti Ismail Omar Guelleh in touring ongoing corridor development works in Jigjiga City, the capital of the Somali Regional State.
The tour followed the arrival of the Presidents of Somalia and Djibouti at Jigjiga Airport earlier this morning, where they were received by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The corridor development works being undertaken in Jigjiga form part of broader urban development efforts underway in the regional capital and in Ethiopia at large.
During the visit, the three leaders reviewed progress across various sections of the corridor development projects in the city. Photos shared by the Office of the Prime Minister show that the leaders were cheered by a large crow of people on the streets of Jigjiga.
The leaders are also expected to join Prime Minister Abiy later today for the inauguration of major development projects in Somali region, including the Shabelley tourist center near Jigjiga and the wind power plant located in Ayshaa District of the region.
