Mining and Technology Paving the Way for Ethiopia’s Next Economic Leap — Deputy PM

Addis Ababa, November 13, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia’s Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has said his country is entering a new phase of economic transformation as mining and technology emerge as key engines of sustainable growth.

The 4th Annual Mining and Technology Expo (MINTEX Ethiopia 2025) officially opened at the Addis International Convention Center on Thursday, bringing together senior government officials, regional leaders, diplomats, investors, and industry representatives. The event serves as a national platform to showcase innovations, exchange expertise, and promote investment in Ethiopia’s fast-evolving mining and technology sectors.

Opening the Expo, Mr. Temesgen stated that Ethiopia’s renewed commitment to transparency, responsible investment, and innovation is turning its untapped natural wealth into real progress.

He highlighted that the country’s vast reserves of gold, potash, lithium, and geothermal energy are being developed not only for export, but also to fuel industries, create jobs, and uplift communities — forming the backbone of a resilient and inclusive economy.

“MINTEX 2025 is more than an exhibition; it represents Ethiopia’s commitment to partnership, innovation, and accountability,” Temesgen said. “Through collaboration between government, investors, and researchers, Ethiopia is laying the foundation for an economy built on sustainability and shared prosperity.”

The Deputy Prime Minister underscored that the mining and technology sectors stand at the center of Ethiopia’s long-term vision to build a self-reliant, industrialized nation.

MINTEX 2025, taking place from November 13 to 16, brings together policymakers, investors, manufacturers, and innovators to explore new opportunities in mining, energy, and technological advancement across Ethiopia and the region.
