Ministry of Peace: Dialogue and Reconciliation Ensure Victory for All

Addis Ababa, December 5, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Ministry of Peace has underscored that pursuing dialogue and reconciliation ensures victory for all parties, following the signing of the latest peace accord in the Amhara region.

In a statement on the current situation, the Ministry emphasized that the federal government has consistently prioritized peaceful consultations as the only viable alternative to conflict.

It stressed that the government demonstrates its commitment to peace by taking proactive steps when opposing forces choose dialogue over armed confrontation.

The Ministry highlighted that this approach remains the sole means to establish a system that guarantees peace, justice, and mutual benefit across the country.

It noted that former combatants in the Amhara region have made a courageous decision to embrace the path of peace, recognizing that continuing armed conflict would undermine both the security of the people and the nation’s broader interests.

The Ministry also expressed appreciation to the Amhara National Regional Government and the Amhara Fano Popular Organization (AFPO) for their decisive role in advancing the peace process, describing the agreement as a shared victory for all stakeholders.

Finally, the Ministry called on other armed groups still engaged in conflict to follow the same path of dialogue and reconciliation, emphasizing that peaceful discussion provides the only constructive solution to disputes and ensures benefits for all parties involved.
