Addis Ababa, April 26, 2026 (FMC) — Mozambique President Daniel Francisco Chapo has commended the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (EAII), describing it as a source of hope for Africa’s digital future.
He made the remarks during a visit to the institute in Addis Ababa, where he was briefed on Ethiopia’s ongoing work in artificial intelligence research and development.
President Chapo said artificial intelligence will play a defining role in shaping the future global landscape, stressing that countries must engage in its advancement with sustained focus and strategic commitment.
He also praised the young professionals at the institute, noting that their creativity and technical skills represent an important contribution to Africa’s broader development journey.
The President further expressed appreciation for the work being carried out at the institute, describing it as a reflection of continental potential and a source of inspiration.
He emphasized that stronger cooperation among African countries, along with closer collaboration and experience-sharing, remains essential for accelerating growth and advancing shared prosperity.
During his visit to Ethiopia, President Chapo and his high-level delegation also toured several federal government institutions and held discussions with relevant officials on ways to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors. He also participated in the signing of Memoranda of Understanding alongside Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during their bilateral engagements in Addis Ababa.
