Addis Ababa, March 13, 2026 (FMC) — The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has announced that more than 9 million voters have registered and received their voter cards ahead of the country’s seventh general election.
NEBE is currently carrying out a range of pre-election activities in preparation for the nationwide vote. In a statement to the media, the board provided updates on voter registration and related preparations.
The Chairwoman of NEBE, Melatwerk Hailu, noted that voter registration began on March 7, following the official schedule, and is being conducted through both digital and manual systems.
She also highlighted that election materials are being distributed to all established polling stations across the country to ensure smooth operations on election day.
Ethiopia is scheduled to hold its 7th General Elections on June 1, 2026, marking a significant step in the country’s democratic process.
