PM Abiy Ahmed Calls for Greater Private Investment as Tourism Development Expands in Arba Minch

Arba Minch, July 3, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has called for increased domestic and foreign private investment in Ethiopia, saying investments in tourism infrastructure are playing a vital role in elevating the country’s tourism potential while creating jobs and driving economic growth.

The Prime Minister made the remarks after visiting the Kuriftu Resort and Spa project in Arba Minch, which is being developed on a 52,000-square-meter site as part of his ongoing visit to the South Ethiopia Region.

According to the Prime Minister, the project comprises 53 luxury villas and is expected to create permanent employment opportunities for more than 300 citizens upon completion.

Abiy said the investment demonstrates the significant contribution the private sector can make by building on the infrastructure established under the Medemer government.

He called on both domestic and international investors to actively engage in Ethiopia and invest in transformative projects that will help take the country’s tourism industry to a new level.

The Prime Minister has been touring key infrastructure, tourism, and development projects in the Gamo Zone, highlighting the role of integrated public investment and private sector participation in advancing sustainable economic development and unlocking the region’s tourism potential.
