Addis Ababa, February 14, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, has extended his congratulations to the incumbent Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, on her election victory, which secured her third consecutive term in office.
In a message shared on his official social media platforms today, Prime Minister Abiy commended the people of Barbados for their democratic exercise and conveyed his best wishes to the incumbent Barbadian Prime Minister as she continues her leadership in advancing the prosperity and well‑being of the Barbadian people.
He also reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to further strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation with Barbados.
Barbados held its general election on February 11, 2026, to elect all 30 members of the House of Assembly. The Barbados Labour Party, led by Prime Minister Mottley, won all 30 seats, giving her a third consecutive term as head of government.
Observers from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) stated that the election reflected the will of the Barbadian people. The clean sweep by the Barbados Labour Party underscores Prime Minister Mottley’s continued political leadership in the country.
