PM Abiy Ahmed Inaugurates Denbi Eco Lodge Under “Dine for Generations” Initiative

Addis Ababa, January 18, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has officially inaugurated Denbi Eco Lodge, the first destination developed under his Dine for Generations initiative, in the South West Ethiopia People’s Regional State, the Office of the Prime Minister announced on Saturday.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the eco lodge spans 36.7 hectares of forest and natural landscape and is designed as a sustainable tourism destination that integrates nature, heritage, and world-class visitor experiences.

The Office said the project reflects the transformation of Ethiopia’s tourism sector over the past seven years, with a focus on sustainability and long-term benefits for future generations.

The Dine for Generations initiative is part of Ethiopia’s broader national strategy to unlock the country’s tourism potential through the development of world-class destinations across the country. Launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, it builds on earlier programs such as Dine for Sheger and Dine for Ethiopia, expanding tourism development efforts to new regions.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, these initiatives have contributed to transforming urban and natural sites into organized and attractive tourism hubs by integrating natural beauty, cultural heritage, and sustainable tourism experiences.
